The most important thing is to look at your home through the eyes of a buyer. Things that you have learned to live with or overlook may have a negative impact on a potential buyer- SO YOU MUST BECOME THE BUYER!
- Open all blinds and drapes to let the natural light in- be sure the windows are clean.
- Turn on all the lights (day or night) and make sure all light fixtures are clean and have the
highest wattage bulb that is safe in them.
- GET RID OF CLUTTER! Anything that you are not going to move, get rid of it now. Pack
away and store out-of-season items and knick-knacks. The less stuff you have, the larger your home will feel.
- Clean out and organize all of your closets. If they are stuffed, buyers will assume that
your home does not have enough storage space.
- Keep your home clean.
- Make sure the front entrance area looks its best as buyers walk up- First Impressions Count!
- If necessary, paint rooms a neutral color. Fresh paint pays big dividends to sellers.
- Keep your lawn mowed, raked and fresh. Remove all outside clutter and make sure
everything is clean.
- Play up the assets of your home that you have enjoyed the most.
