The most important thing is to look at your home through the eyes of a buyer. Things that you have learned to live with or overlook may have a negative impact on a potential buyer- SO YOU MUST BECOME THE BUYER!
1. Open all blinds and drapes to let the natural light in- be sure the windows are clean.
2. Turn on all the lights (day or night) and make sure all light fixtures are clean and have the highest wattage bulb that is safe in them.
3. GET RID OF CLUTTER! Anything that you are not going to move, get rid of it now. Pack away and store out-of-season items and knick-knacks. The less stuff you have, the larger your home will feel.
4. Clean out and organize all of your closets. If they are stuffed, buyers will assume that your home does not have enough storage space.
5. Keep your home clean.
6. Make sure the front entrance area looks its best as buyers walk up- First Impressions Count!
7. If necessary, paint rooms a neutral color. Fresh paint pays big dividends to sellers.
8. Keep your lawn mowed, raked and fresh. Remove all outside clutter and make sure everything is clean.
9. Play up the assets of your home that you have enjoyed the most.
